Collierville Town Square Events: Fall and Holidays 2026

Collierville Kelly Day October 4, 2026

Collierville's Historic Town Square is busy all year, but the stretch from late October through December is when the calendar fills up. If you live in Collierville, are thinking about moving to the 38017 area, or simply want a reason to spend an afternoon downtown, here is what is on the schedule for the rest of 2026, along with a few practical notes for making the most of a visit. Dates below come from Main Street Collierville's events page as of early October 2026; times and details can change, so please confirm before you go.

Scare on the Square: October 23

The Halloween season on the square centers on Scare on the Square, set for Friday, October 23, 2026. Main Street Collierville lists the date and notes that more details are still to come, so watch its website and social pages for hours and activities as the day gets closer.

The square itself is a good setting for it. The park in the middle has a gazebo and plenty of open lawn, and the brick storefronts around it stay lit in the evening. If you plan to eat while you are there, the square's restaurants include the Silver Caboose Restaurant and Soda Fountain, Cafe Piazza, Dyer's Cafe, and Maeve's Tavern, and event nights are busy, so arriving early helps.

Holiday Open House and Shop Small Saturday

The holiday shopping season begins with the Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The merchants around the square decorate their shops and set out refreshments, and it is a relaxed way to see what the local stores carry before the December rush.

Shops on and near the square include the Mercantile Off Main, which features locally made gifts, jewelry, and art, and Hewlett and Dunn Jean and Boot Barn, a longtime stop for boots and western wear. Square Beans Coffee is close by for a warm drink while you browse.

Two days after Thanksgiving, Shop Small Saturday runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 28, 2026. It is the downtown merchants' version of the national small-business shopping day, and it is one of the busiest retail days of the year on the square.

Main Street Collierville's calendar also shows an evening shopping event on Thursday, November 19, from 5 to 8 p.m., with merchant specials and giveaways, and another event planned for December with details to be announced.

Christmas in Collierville

The Town of Collierville hosts its own holiday traditions each year under the Christmas in Collierville banner. In past years those have included a tree lighting on the square, visits with Santa, carriage rides, and the Collierville Christmas Parade. I was not able to confirm the 2026 dates when this was written, so check the Town of Collierville's website or its parks and recreation department for this year's schedule.

The decorated square is worth a visit on its own on any December evening, whether or not an event is scheduled.

While You Are There: The Depot, the Trains, and the Museum

If you have guests in town for the holidays, the square offers more than shopping. A restored 1940s train depot on the south side serves as the visitor center, and beside it is a collection of rail equipment that includes the Frisco 1351 steam locomotive, a business car, and a red caboose. The Morton Museum of Collierville History is a short walk away in a Gothic Revival church building that dates to 1873. The downtown district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

A few practical notes: freight trains still use the line next to the square, so expect an occasional delay crossing the tracks. On event days, the parking spaces around the park fill first, and it is often easier to park a block or two away and walk in. A short drive away, Mensi's Dairy Bar has been serving soft-serve and milkshakes since the 1960s.

Why the Square Matters to Collierville Homeowners

People often ask what sets Collierville apart from neighboring Germantown, Piperton, or the rest of Shelby County, and the square is a large part of the answer. It gives the town a true center, and the events calendar is run largely by a local nonprofit and the merchants themselves. The older homes on the streets nearby are within walking distance of all of it, and even from the newer subdivisions to the south and east, the square is only a short drive.

If you are new to town, attending one of these events is an easy way to get a feel for the community before or after a move.

If you ever want to talk about Collierville, whether that means a home near the square or one across town, I am always happy to share what I know. No pressure; just a conversation whenever it is useful to you.
